More Giovanna!

Giovanna I love you! Again, Schuman don't sue me for use of this pic, but I can't resist my style fave especially in these awesome shoes. Alaïa is my guess...but that may be just a shot in the dark.

Change is En Vogue

André Leon Talley's role at Vogue has changed. European Editior- at-Large Hamish Bowles (above, when I caught him in NY!) is also rumoured to be having his title on the masthead edited. Interesting....I wonder what these changes will mean to the mag's content?

Juniour Miss

If Bridgette babysits, you usually end up playing dress up along Main St. Here is Olivia getting her fash-on at Bohemia Gallery.

France's Anna

I think between the two editors, Carine would be more fun at a party. But I posted this because for whatever reason I just love this pic by terry richardson.

Retract

I have to take back almost everything I said in praise of the end of biker chic after seeing these Alexander Wang "Freja" boots. So fly.

Somebody did it!

If you read my previous "underwear as outerwear" post...here is proof it can be done!

Canada in NYC

http://www.canadanewyork.com/exhibitions

So sad i missed this gallery in the East Village. Anyways, shows some awesome contemporary stuff. Check out the pics of the present exhibit... "Mother the Cake is Burning" and anything Agathe Snow showed, because her stuff is always interesting. Here is a pic from a show earlier this year titled "“Kate, Giselle, Natalia, Agyness, Simon, Kanye & George” by Katherine Bernhardt...Ummm....am I supposed to know who is who??

Couleur Café

I hope I don't get sued by Scott Schuman for poaching this pic. But I need it for inspiration right now as I try to surface out from under all these term papers and exams. If this is how work gets done in Paris...I need to just keep that in mind while I toil away in solitary confinement at my kitchen table in colourless pajamas.

Giovanna!

Giovanna Battaglia. Fashion Editor for Vogue L'uomo. Also, my girl crush and style fave. Here she is rocking the nude colour and short hemline that has become this spring's uniform. Again, sadly, not my pic. Hold on...i'll be in Paris soon.

Underwear as Outerwear?

I am loving how the spring collections have brought femininity back. Don't get me wrong, I fully support motorcyle chic and dominatrix heels, but I feel like this look has exhausted itself just a bit. Which is why I felt relieved seeing all the nudes, pastels, and faded denims in the spring/summer collections.

I also love that grey has replaced black, that even Armani made his skirts shorter than ever before, and that studs and exposed zippers are losing ground to satin and lace. I think women look beautiful in soft neutrals, and fresh-faced make-up with hints of orange and peach feels refreshing after black polish and black liner have been staples for so long.

But one trend has appeared that I haven't decided yet whether to love or leave ...the whole lingerie on top of the outfit look that Marc Jacobs paraded recently. Fashion friends....What da ya think? Are you going to rush out to Agent Provocateur and pick up a bra to showcase at your next soiree?

I think personally I'll just stick to the short short skirts, its almost like going out in your underwear anyways. But maybe I'm just bitter because I know my cotton La Senza doesn't make the fashion cut.

Then again, if I could miraculously get my hands on one of Spanish designer Maya Hansen's corsets, try and stop me from wearing it as a shirt....

Disclaimer : not my pics!

Courtney Uses Her Words

Last night I was watching a Fashion TV Raw re-run where Jeanne Beker caught Courtney Love outside the Narciso Rodriguez summer 2010 show. Now I know that Courtney is the epitome of a hot mess. Her lipstick always looks like she just came from a sloppy shag session, and her eyes and hair are always going in opposite directions...but sometimes what comes out of her mouth is right on point. It took her awhile to get to that point this time, but I think she accurately summed up Rodriguez's whole collection when she enthusiastically praised his serging skills. In her not-so-refined vernacular she delivered an assessment more honest and legitimate then most of the other fashion flakes hanging around. Her best line to Jeanne... "Narcisco is really meant for ladies who lunch..I lunched once..two years ago I think."
Something about Courtney just makes me like her. Probably cause I've never had to spend any time with her. But every time I see her it makes me wonder... If Kurt had lived a full and healthy life, would Courtney have too?
